T-4464 (Common) Buffelgrass

Warm-season grass from Union of South Africa. Adapted to sandy and clay soils. Does not require much fertilizer, however responds well to fertilizer. Good seedling vigor. Drought resistant but not cold tolerant or disease tolerant; withstands fairly heavy grazing. Rapid growth from very early spring through late summer. Growth continues during hottest part of summer with brief showers. Fast recovery from grazing and drought.
Intended Uses: Range reseeding, pastureland, hay production, re-vegetation, soil stabilization and erosion control.
Adaption: T-4464 (common) is generally considered adapted south of a line from San Antonio to Uvalde, TX. However, stands are often severely damaged by freezing temperatures north of this line.
